Oh Good Grief!

I have missed blogging! I have been so busy. My brother and niece drove a truck load of my belongings down here to me. Some stuff I asked for, some stuff I did not, but all of it filled the entire living room chin deep. It took me 10 days to find the living room floor.

I've opened an account at Craig's List to sell some of the unwanted items. It was physically and mentally draining. -Finding a place for the things I'd like to keep and tough finding out that so many of the things I wanted have been stolen, and seeing all of the notes and letters from the ex was not something I asked for, but dealt with nonetheless.

On the upside, Zipper likes my storage pieces and says I have good taste. Yay! And I have most of my comic books, postcard collection, and stamp collection. None of my trading cards made it here, but my small tea card collection is here and so are my Peanuts pogs.

I still have some things I need to take care of, and I really need to catch up in the Homo Floresiensis Uncovered course. I waited months for this class to start and I don't want to blow it now. Hopefully I will take care of that at some point this weekend.

  Love you guys!

Thank you Al and Kiara!

  1. Moving and seeing reminders of the ex are never fun.
I've come across a few reminders of my ex that on one hand I wanted to throw out right away, on the other, return to her. (One was her grandmother's nameplate from the home she lived in)

I hope things get more manageable for you soon :)

  2. If you can afford it, a storage unit really helps. We have had a storage unit or two since the late 1990s, but they are a horrible mess and you can't find anything in them if your life depended on it, LOL. All my empty card boxes go there...somewhere. the good thing is that it's not in our home...the bad thing is that it's impossible to find anything when you want it. Just don't put food in it, for some reason my dad put ketchup packets in his. I suspect his plan was to eat them if he got hungry while in his unit.

  3. I used to be a big Peanuts collector but I think I only have one pog. I do have a pretty complete set of Animaniacs pogs.

  4. i never got into pogs or really, understood their popularity. your Peanuts collection is marvelous! so colorful and happy! on another note, in my case anyway - letting go of a thing (tangible or otherwise) opens the door for something better to come into your life.

    1. I never played with pogs. I'd found bags of them at Goodwill about 5 years ago, and I bought them just to see what I'd find inside. The Peanuts were a huge gold mine in thrifted pogdom. I also kept a few Upper Deck Sumos, and a few lenticular dinosaurs that were lurking in the masses. Anyway, I just sleeve them and collect them like trading cards.

You are right about letting go. I was good with having left everything behind and was surprised when my brother offered to drive his truck down after a year had gone by. It never occurred to me that the items I had excitedly requested at this news, would be gone, and the people that took these things were people who were supposed to love me. The vulture culture is disturbing... I am doing much better now. It was just such a jolt at the time. Thank you for the encouragement. :)

  5. Vulture culture - a term new to me but spot on. Things I lost as a child in particular were taken from me for no other reason than sheer meanness. Some were destroyed in front of my very young eyes. I'm glad you are doing better. Loss at any age is difficult. :)
